Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen has addressed the ongoing speculation regarding the 2026 role of standout sophomore Travis Hunter.
Despite an injury that sidelined the two-way star for a portion of last year, Coen confirmed that the organizational vision remains steadfast.
The Jaguars intend to play Hunter on both sides of the ball, honoring the original plan they had when they drafted him.
While his rehabilitation is being managed on a day-to-day basis, Coen emphasized that the team still sees him as a dual-threat weapon who will receive opportunities as both a receiver and a cornerback.

An ESPN analyst recently detailed a “great fear” that the Jaguars might inadvertently “nuke” Hunter’s career by failing to implement proper snap management.
The concern is that the team might feel pressured by Hunter's high draft capital to give him a heavy offensive workload, potentially running him “ragged” and causing his elite cornerback play to deteriorate by December.

With a wide receiver room that already features Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, and Parker Washington, the analyst argues there is no immediate urgency to force Hunter into a primary offensive role.
Since he has only recorded 154 defensive snaps to date, the priority should arguably be his health and defensive development.
This debate over his “full-time” versus “part-time” status even sparked a social media exchange between Hunter and NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
After Rapoport reported that the Jaguars expected Hunter to focus primarily on cornerback with limited offensive reps, Hunter took to X to challenge the report, asking, “Now who told you this?”
Rapoport stood by his information, suggesting that most teams always viewed Hunter's primary value in the secondary.
