Former Lufkin Panther Ja’Lynn Polk holds second annual youth football camp

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - New Orleans Saints wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk returned to his hometown Friday to host his second annual youth football camp at Abe Martin Stadium.

The former Lufkin Panther worked with young athletes, passing down football skills to the next generation of players.

“That’s one thing that I stand on, man, just being able to serve others, serve my community,” Polk said. “You know, this, this is what I love to do. So each and every year I’ma fi- try to find ways that I can give back, and it’s just gonna be more and more so. You know, every time I have a chance and an opportunity to, you know, I’m gonna be there.”

Polk said the young participants brought energy to the camp.

“They energetic. You know, they have, they have more energy than the grown folks out here,” Polk said. “So, uh, you can see the potential that they have and the excitement that they bring out here, and, and they love it.”

Polk said he views giving back to his community as passing the torch to future players.

“They pass the torch down. You know, they pass it to me, and I’ll pass it to the next. And the, and the next one that’s coming up is these young cats out here,” he said.
