Guardiola names his ‘biggest title’ with Manchester City

Pep Guardiola says his “biggest title” with Manchester City is his side playing 24 games at Wembley Stadium.

City enjoyed another memorable Wembley day on Saturday when they beat Chelsea 1-0 to lift the FA Cup.

Under Guardiola; City have been ever present in semi-finals and finals of the domestic cup competitions and the City boss believes that consistency represents their biggest achievement.

“I think the biggest title, now I’m going to say something, I think the biggest title is to come here (Wembley) 24 times, that is the biggest title,” he said.

“You can win Premier Leagues, Champions League, but do you play 24 times here?

“The first season when I arrived, I didn’t come, because we didn’t win nothing in the previous season, and after that in nine years come 24 times, it’s because we were stubborn.

“So many times, FA Cup or Carabao Cup, you go to League One or League Two (teams), you can be slippery, you can make a bad afternoon, a bad night. We never had not even one day and that is the biggest, I think, compliment that we can get as a club.”

City have won two trophies this season having already lifted the Carabao Cup, but Guardiola warned his players not to be complacent.

“It’s good, the feeling, but always don’t forget that if you pretend you are there, in a few hours you are in the bottom,” he said.

“The most important thing when you are (there) is, the trophy is good, you know, how you have to compete to win, the experience, but don’t take it for granted. If you start to believe that you are special, you just win the FA Cup. Special we are not.

“The moment you think that you will be in these places quite often, and that is one thing I think everybody through the years, we were okay, we’ll do it next knowing exactly how difficult it is to arrive after winning.”
