After playing 45 minutes against Nottingham Forest, Levi Colwill was given a first start a little over a week ago against Liverpool. Coming through that OK, he then got another 90 minutes in the FA Cup final against Man City.

Levi Colwill not ready for another start after intense run

It’s a lot of minutes for a player who has just come back from a serious injury, but you can see why the club took the risk, in the circumstances. It was a final, after all.

But we’d expect that means he’s not going to feature tomorrow night against Tottenham, and interim manager Calum McFarlane strongly hinted that would be the case when speaking about it with the media today.

“We need to be careful with Levi. He’s obviously had a very serious injury. He’s performed well in those two games. We’ll see how he looks today, we’ll see how he reports and we’ll make a decision on that one.”

He’s keeping his options open, but we’d be stunned if Colwill starts again.

Xabi Alonso has a whole new staff coming in, and it looks like Calum McFarlane will be among them, although the interim didn’t confirm anything today.

Ricardo Carvalho has been sharing some memories about his arrival at Chelsea and what it was like to be in that legendary dressing room under Jose Mourinho.
