Eagles blockbuster trade rumor could lead to highly-anticipated deal with Patriots

The Philadelphia Eagles continue to find themselves at the center of offseason trade rumors.

The franchise likely won’t complete a deal of any magnitude this month, but things could get interesting in June. According to a recent report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Eagles may already have a blockbuster trade involving A.J. Brown in place with the New England Patriots.

“My best guess is that they already agreed to something loosely,” Fowler said on 97.5 The Fanatic Sunday. “They can always tweak that or rework it, but they’re probably getting a (first-round pick), maybe a future (first), maybe it’s a 2028 (pick).”

“I don’t think they’ll get more than that, I think that would be the max at this point, I’d be surprised (if it’s more) Philly once upon a time hoped for a (first) and a (second), I just don’t see that happening. Maybe they can get creative and swap some mid-to-late-round picks to sweeten it up.”

“I haven’t heard anything else, as far as like if there’s a veteran (player) included. New England could part with one of their receivers, but I think Philly is pretty set there for the most part at that position. They addressed a lot of their glaring needs, so they don’t really need to include another player.”

Essentially, while nothing is official just yet, Fowler believes the Eagles and Patriots are primed to complete a deal that’s been discussed for months.

It wouldn’t be surprising to witness the Eagles receive a first-round pick in exchange for Brown, considering the three-time Pro Bowler is a high-caliber contributor who’s recorded 1,000 yards in six of his first seven NFL seasons and has a Super Bowl on his lengthy resume.

At the end of the day, a Brown-Patriots makes too much sense not to happen.
