Long before his farewell tour and Silver & Black Gala performance, John performed several residencies in Sin City. The first began in February 2004.
The Red Piano took place at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace from Feb. 13, 2004, to Apr. 22, 2009. Of course, he would tour regularly during this span, but he played at least 21 shows every year from 2004 to 2009. In total, he performed 247 shows at the venue.
A second residency at The Colosseum titled The Million Dollar Piano ran from Sep. 28, 2011, to May 17, 2018, just a few months before the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour commenced.
While he performed fewer shows each year of the Million Dollar Piano residency, John still played 197 shows over eight years at the venue.
John is retired from touring, but he has remained busy. He released a collaborative album with Brandi Carlile titled Who Believes in Angels? on Apr. 4, 2025. They performed a special one-off concert at the London Palladium for a CBS special. The only official physical release of the show was on vinyl as part of the 2025 Black Friday Record Store Day.
Who Believes in Angels? marked John's 33rd studio album. His last solo album, Regimental Sgt. Zippo, was released in 2021. It consists of recordings from 1967 and 1968 that were originally intended to be part of his debut album. That same year, he released The Lockdown Sessions, which consisted of collaborations with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Stevie Wonder, and Britney Spears.
