Chelsea have got their manager following the appointment of Xabi Alonso over the weekend.
The Blues now need to begin work on making signings, if they have not already. This summer, the plan is to bring experienced players to Stamford Bridge.
The bulk of Chelsea’s transfer business could be done in England as they look to add more Premier League experience to their squad.
It’s going to be a big summer for Xabi Alonso and Chelsea!

However, that does not mean that they should overlook footballers with pedigree who are playing in another division.
For example, Robert Lewandowski is leaving Barcelona at the end of the season, and he would be a perfect addition to this Chelsea side.
Chelsea should sign Robert Lewandowski for Xabi Alonso
It has been confirmed that Lewandowski will not be renewing his contract at Barcelona and will thus be available on a free transfer this summer.
Lewandowski epitomises what Chelsea are lacking. Experience, leadership, goals, the list goes on.
The Polish striker is 37 now, which may put some clubs off, but the Blues could have done with having a veteran like him around this season. And even though Lewandowski is not getting any younger, he is still delivering and at the highest level.
This term, Lewandowski has scored 18 goals in 45 appearances, helping Barcelona to win another La Liga title.
In the previous campaign, the Poland international netted 42 times in 52 outings. Twenty-seven of his goals came in La Liga, while he bagged another 11 in the Champions League.

Again, Lewandowski is still performing at the elite level of football. Those numbers are ridiculous for a player of his age; they are almost Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo-like.
Right now, the No.9 Chelsea are being linked with is Brentford’s Igor Thiago. It has been claimed that Chelsea believe Thiago can transform Alonso’s future side into title contenders.
That seems unlikely. But if someone with Lewandowski’s track record were to join instead, you would not rule it out.

There are other areas Chelsea would also need to strengthen to become title challengers. But Lewandowski would be an incredible place to start.
Alonso already appears to be a happy man after being handed the Chelsea job, but he will be even happier if the club deliver him a centre-forward like the Bayern Munich legend.
