Back in 2022, the Kansas City Chiefs traded wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins in a blockbuster offseason deal.
Fast forward four years, and Hill is on the free agency market after being cut by the Dolphins at the beginning of the offseason. In his four-season stint in Miami, Hill posted two seasons with over 1,700 receiving yards, but missed most of the 2025 season due to a dislocated knee and had many off-the-field issues.
Though Hill is coming off a serious injury and isn't the same player he once was just a few years ago, the 32-year-old could be what the Chiefs' offense needs to regain form in 2026, and an NFL insider believes a reunion between the former All-Pro receiver and Kansas City is going to happen.
Albert Breer believes Hill will land with the Chiefs for 2026 season
In a recent mailbag article, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer was asked where he thinks Hill will sign, and Breer said the Chiefs.
"Give me the Bears for Jordan and the Chiefs for [Tyreek] Hill," Breer said.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said in February that there had been no discussions about Hill returning to Kansas City, but with the draft in the books and free agency slowing down, things could be different now.
Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy are set to return as the top two receivers for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and though the duo possesses a ton of speed and explosiveness, the Chiefs could use some experience in their young wide receiver room.
Additionally, Kansas City can no longer rely on tight Travis Kelce to carry the receiving game. Kelce is one of the greatest tight ends of all time and still a reliable playmaker, but the 36-year-old is slowing down and could be entering his final season.
Bringing back Hill, who already knows Reid's offense very well, would give Mahomes another viable receiving threat and take some pressure off Rice and Worthy. Hill should also sign for cheap, given that he's returning from a knee injury and hasn't been a high-level player since 2023.
The recent off-field drama and his injury could scare the Chiefs away from adding Hill. However, Kansas City needs to add proven production to its receiver room before the 2026 campaign, and a reunion with Hill would give them that and produce fireworks if the eight-time Pro Bowl playmaker can turn back the clock.
