The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially resolved their quarterback uncertainty for the 2026 season by re-signing four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the 42-year-old veteran is set to return for his 22nd NFL season on a one-year deal that reunites him with new head coach Mike McCarthy.
ESPN's Adam Schefter further detailed the financial terms, reporting that the contract could be worth up to $25 million, with a base salary ranging between $22 million and $23 million, plus performance incentives.
This move provides a clear direction for a franchise looking to build on its 2025 AFC North title.
Interestingly, the news of the signing surprised even Rodgers' own teammates.
Wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., who joined the Steelers through a trade earlier this offseason, candidly revealed his thoughts on the process to reporter Mark Kaboly.
Despite spending time together for some throws during the spring, Rodgers never mentioned his intention to return to Pittsburgh.

Pittman admitted that he learned of Rodgers' return through social media, stating, “I found out from Twitter.”
Before the deal's finalization, Pittman had expressed confidence in the team's potential, regardless of “old man” Rodgers' decision.
He noted that while Rodgers' return is a significant boost, the team was prepared to move forward with quarterbacks Will Howard and Mason Rudolph.
As the Steelers transition into the Mike McCarthy era, the first change in head coaches since 2007, expectations are soaring.
Following a disappointing playoff exit against the Texans last year, the organization is banking on the Rodgers-McCarthy reunion to ignite a serious Super Bowl run in 2026.
