Jaguars urged to pull off blockbuster trade for 3-time Pro Bowl weapon

The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the more surprising teams in the NFL last season. The team ended up winning the AFC South and hosting a playoff game, despite having middle-of-the-road expectations.

However, instead of capitalizing on that momentum and making some big moves this offseason, the Jaguars have been mostly quiet. The team's free agency signings include depth running backs Chris Rodriguez and Ameer Abdullah... and that's it.

The team also got roasted for its 2026 draft class. It seems clear that the plan is just for continued development, but the team may need to be aggressive to take advantage of this window. As a result, Jeff Kerr of Eagles On SI thinks the Jaguars are a perfect fit for an elite trade target.

Jaguars named as landing spot for A.J. Brown

A.J. Brown is no stranger to trade rumors. The star was already traded once in his career, and he's frequently been floated in rumors over the last year. It seems inevitable that a move will have to be made eventually, and Kerr thinks the Jaguars make as much sense as anybody.

The Jaguars have Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, and Parker Washington, but Thomas has been featured in trade rumors in his own right. Kerr offered the following analysis:

Could the Jaguars become players for Brown in the coming weeks?

Jacksonville has Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, and Jakobi Meyers as its top three wide receivers. Travis Hunter is playing both ways, so he's also in the mix. The Jaguars are deep at wide receiver, even with Thomas regressing after a strong rookie season two years ago.

Perhaps one of these wideouts may entire the Eagles, notibly Thomas. Wouldn't Jacksonville want Brown and Thomas as the top two receivers? Washington has emerged as a playmaker and the Jaguars gave up a ton of draft capital for Hunter, so they have to see if that experiment will work.

As Kerr mentioned, Thomas came back to earth in 2025 after dominating as a rookie. As a result, perhaps a change of scenery would be the best bet. The Jaguars likely want high compensation for Thomas, while the Eagles expect the same for Brown. Perhaps a Thomas-for-Brown swap, with some picks involved, would be of interest.

Thomas has had one Pro Bowl-caliber season, while Brown has had several. The Ole Miss product has earned three Pro Bowl selections, has been selected as a Second-team All-Pro twice, and has a Super Bowl ring. That could be some valuable experience on a young Jaguar offense, and could be the missing piece that's needed.

Brown is also plenty familiar with the AFC South, having spent the first few seasons of his career with the Tennessee Titans. Brown is also from the South, so he may be open to the Jaguars as well.
