Xabi Alonso is in for a busy summer at Chelsea, with the new Blues boss set to be very active in the transfer window.
It is something that Chelsea supporters will welcome after an extremely disappointing season.
The Club World Cup holders recently lost in the FA Cup final to Manchester City and have zero chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

Xabi Alonso wants up to five new players
Chelsea fans will be happy to see reinforcements this summer, and it looks like they are going to get just that.
Journalist Simon Phillips has shared on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that Alonso wants to sign four or five “starting-level” players for the club ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Much has been said about Alonso’s involvement in transfers following his appointment as Chelsea boss.
After Alonso was handed the title of “manager” instead of head coach, the 44-year-old is expected to have a larger say on recruitment than his predecessors.
Alonso won the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen in 2024, and the Stamford Bridge faithful will now be hoping that he can guide Chelsea to a league title.
With Pep Guardiola leaving Manchester City at the end of the season, some Chelsea supporters may want to see a title charge as early as next year. But whether that will be possible or not will depend on the club’s recruitment this summer.
It’s going to be a big summer for Xabi Alonso and Chelsea!

Positions Xabi Alonso could target
When the transfer window opens, goalkeeper could be a priority for Alonso. It has been claimed that Chelsea have a six-man shortlist for the goalkeeper position as they look to strengthen in that area.
A central defender, midfielder, winger and striker could also be on the agenda. The Blues have had issues in each of those positions this season.
For example, Romeo Lavia has struggled to remain fit, while Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens have not convinced on the left wing, though the latter’s opportunities have been restricted because of injuries.
