Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is looking forward to working under Xabi Alonso next season.
Over the weekend, Chelsea announced Alonso as their new manager, with the Spaniard joining the club on a four-year deal.
After the dismissal of his predecessor Liam Rosenior, there were a lot of stories that suggested that the former Strasbourg boss did not quite have the respect of the Chelsea dressing room.
However, that should not be an issue for Alonso. In fact, Chalobah has already proven that it will not be.
It’s going to be a big summer for Xabi Alonso and Chelsea!

Trevoh Chalobah in awe of Xabi Alonso
Chalobah is starstruck by Alonso because of his playing career. The ex-midfielder won two Champions League trophies with Liverpool and Real Madrid and two European Championships plus the World Cup with Spain.
Because of that, Chalobah thinks he and his teammates can look up to Alonso and have confidence in him, knowing that he has been in their shoes before.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official club website, the defender said: “His career has been amazing and it’s not a surprise he’s a manager now. You can see that obviously he loves football.
“Him being the manager now, for us players we can look up to that, knowing he’s been there, he’s done it, and also has that coaching ability and strategies to go and manage.”

In the past, Chalobah’s future has often been uncertain. However, it looks like he will still be at Chelsea this summer and will have the opportunity to work with Alonso.
At the start of the month, it was claimed that Chelsea are trying to extend Chalobah’s contract, which is currently set to expire in 2028.
Another central defender Alonso will get to work with is Levi Colwill, who could discuss a new deal himself in the summer. For many Chelsea supporters, Colwill is the team’s best centre-half and has perhaps shown that since returning from his ACL injury.
Although he was on the losing side, Colwill still put in a terrific performance in Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup final. He also played a key role in helping Chelsea to secure a point against Liverpool.
If he stays injury-free, Colwill should become a mainstay under Alonso next season.
