Enzo Maresca eyeing Chelsea raid as England duo among his first Man City targets - report

Enzo Maresca has agreed to become Manchester City's new manager ahead of next season, and he's already reportedly eyeing a raid on his former club Chelsea.

GIVEMESPORT sources have confirmed that Maresca has agreed terms to join Manchester City as a replacement for Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola looks set to be leaving the club this summer, and City have had a plan in place in order to replace him.

If Maresca does become the Man City manager, he'll likely want to bring in some of his own players. A potential raid on his former club, Chelsea, has been mentioned in a report from the Daily Mirror.

Maresca will also know some of Manchester City's current squad after spending time at the club as Guardiola's assistant manager.

It feels like a natural fit for Maresca to return to Man City, with the Italian manager playing a similar style to Guardiola anyway.

Maresca Eyeing Chelsea Raid

Former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Enzo Fernandez is among four Chelsea players that Maresca is keen to reunite with at Manchester City in the summer transfer window, with the Argentine reportedly available for a fee in the region of £100m.

Maresca is the favourite to take over from Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium, and he could look to raid his former club Chelsea.

The report also adds that Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, and Joao Pedro are three other Chelsea players that Maresca could target.

Prising these players away from Stamford Bridge certainly won't be easy, as they are four of Chelsea's most high-value players.

A move for Palmer certainly would be interesting, considering the England international left Manchester City to join Chelsea after struggling for minutes with the Manchester club.

Chelsea offloading Joao Pedro and Colwill feels incredibly unlikely too, with the duo undoubtedly considered guaranteed starters when they are fit.

Enzo Fernandez an Interesting Case

Fernandez has already been linked with a departure ahead of the summer transfer window after some comments he made during Liam Rosenior's time at the club.

The comments he made, in which he said he doesn't know where he'll be playing his football next season, didn't go down well with the club. Rosenior confirmed that he was part of a decision to suspend him for two games at the start of April.

“As a football club, with me as part of the decision, he won't be available for tomorrow's game or Manchester City next Sunday. A line was crossed in terms of our culture and what we want to build."

The situation casts further doubt over his future at the club, and it will be interesting to see whether he is one who heads through the exit door in the summer transfer window.
