Manchester City were held to 1-1 draw by Bournemouth in the Premier League on Tuesday evening, ending their Premier League title hopes.
The Cityzen trail the Gunners by four points ahead of the final matchday. Meanwhile, the result secured Bournemouth’s European qualification.
The two sides showed attacking intent early on, but it was City who looked more threatening.
They worked out the first opening in the fifth minute when Antoine Semenyo got to the byline to pull a ball back for Jeremy Doku, whose effort was saved by Djordje Petrovic.
Semenyo thought he had given the visitors the lead in the 12th minute with a clinical finish, but his effort was ruled offside.
City nearly got the opener before the half-hour mark, with two consecutive chances, but Evanilson produced vital defensive contributions to avert the danger.
Junior Kroupi put Bournemouth ahead in the 39th minute. He was picked out by Adrien Truffert before curling into the top corner, leaving Gianluigi Donnarumma rooted to the spot.
He became the first teenager to score against each of the teams finishing in the top three in a single Premier League campaign.
Shortly after the restart, Nico O’Reilly came close to drawing City level after being played through by Haaland, but was denied by Petrovic.
Donnarumma was called into action for the first time in the 52nd minute, keeping out Evanilson’s effort towards the near post.
Bournemouth worked another good opening on the hour mark, but this time they could not trouble Donnarumma.
David Brooks missed two golden chances to seal the victory for the hosts late.
