Declan Rice could finally claim it was 'done' after Arsenal were crowned as Premier League champions.
The England midfielder infamously said that the title race was not over after the Gunners' heart-breaking defeat to Manchester City earlier this season. But taking to Instagram just moments after Arsenal were crowned champions, he shared a picture of him alongside teammates Kai Havertz, Eberechi Eze, William Saliba, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Bukayo Saka.
Rice's post was accompanied bythe caption: "I told you all.. it’s done," with red heart and trophy emojis. His post refers to the viral moment where he was caught saying to Martin Odegaard 'it's not done' just moments after Arsenal's defeat to Man City that had seemingly put Pep Guardiola's side in control of the title.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was among those to applaud Rice's comments. Speaking at the time, he said: “It’s not done, and we are more confident that we’re going to do it.
“That was the feeling that, probably without them expressing it in the dressing room, I felt immediately, and that was very powerful.”
In the end, Arsenal were crowned as champions with one game remaining. Monday evening's 1-0 win against Burnley put them on the verge of the title, with City's draw with Bournemouth rubber-stamping their first title in 22 years.
Arsenal will now look forward to lifting the trophy on the final day of the campaign against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
