Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Tottenham ensures that the relegation race in the Premier League will go down to the final day.
Goals from Enzo Fernandes and Anrey Santos in either half at Stamford Bridge condemned Roberto De Zerbi’s side to another defeat, even after Richarlison set up a grandstand finish.
It means that Tottenham must win at home to Everton on the final day of the campaign to guarantee their top flight safety, because they currently still only sit two points clear of West Ham, who host Leeds.
“You’re never going to get a better chance to beat Chelsea, that’s a poor Chelsea team… not to get a point out of that game is disappointing,” former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood said on Premier League Productions.
“I think they’ve been poor the last couple of games.
“They need to show courage and bravery and play in front of their home fans and get the point to stay in the division.”
On the relief on the final day he said: “Does this group deserve an ovation from their fans? No. They deserve nothing They’ve been shocking all season…they need to give something back to their (fans)…
“Hopefully this group of players can go find another club somewhere else!”
