The Chelsea permutations to qualify for Europe on Premier League final day

After a win over Tottenham, Chelsea have set themselves up with the chance of securing a European place against Sunderland on Sunday.

The race for European qualification has reached a dramatic boiling point heading into the final weekend of the Premier League season.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Aston Villa have officially locked down the coveted Champions League spots, leaving the remaining European places completely up for grabs.

Liverpool currently occupies fifth place, while Bournemouth, Brighton, Chelsea, and Brentford are all locked in an incredibly tight scrap to secure the final Europa League and Conference League berths.

For Chelsea, it comes down to a crucial away fixture against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. The Black Cats have enjoyed an incredibly strong campaign, sitting comfortably in tenth place and entering the weekend full of confidence after a 3-1 away win at Everton.

The Premier League final day presents a dramatic battle for European qualification between Brighton, Chelsea, Brentford, and Sunderland. Chelsea’s victory over Tottenham moves them into eighth place on 52 points, ahead of Brentford on goal difference, with Sunderland sitting just behind on 51 points and Brighton holding seventh with 53 points.

If Chelsea beat Sunderland on the final day, they are guaranteed to finish no lower than eighth, securing a European spot. They will jump into seventh place for a superior Europa League berth if Brighton drops points against Manchester United.

If Chelsea draws with Sunderland, they will move to 53 points. They can still finish eighth, but only if Brentford loses or draws their final match against Liverpool. However, a draw opens the door for Brentford to leapfrog them with a win, which would drop Chelsea to ninth.

If Chelsea loses to Sunderland, they will be overtaken by the Black Cats and will not secure a place in Europe.
