The club’s interim boss has managed to oversee encouraging displays in consecutive outings, with the Clarets pushing both Aston Villa and Arsenal all the way.
With relegation already confirmed and off the back of Scott Parker’s subsequent departure, Burnley could easily have thrown in the towel, but instead they’ve rallied and given as good as they’ve got.
“That’s the most pleasing aspect from the last two games, that there’s been a reaction,” he said.
“It would have been easy for the group to go another way with what’s happened, but it’s credit to them that they’ve stuck at it and they’ve produced two performances that they are capable of.
“I keep saying, it’s difficult throughout the season when you’re in those positions, but they are capable of more.
“We carried a threat, but that’s the difference in levels. You’ve got to be clinical when you get a chance against these big teams away from home to cause them damage.

“But the idea was to create some doubt in the stadium given where the club is at, at this moment in time, given they’re pushing for the title, but we weren’t able to do it in the end.”

But now a standard has been set, Jackson says this level of performance must be the absolute bare minimum moving forward.
“A lot of people probably thought we might give up after what happened with the relegation and accused the boys of not trying, so I am really pleased tonight and the last game as well to show what they are actually capable of,” he told the BBC.
"The capability they have got and showed, that has to be a minimum for them. At this level they can do it and they have shown that tonight, they showed it against Villa.
“We came on the wrong side of the result, and a decision that I think is not the best, but I am really pleased for the group.
"It has been there in spells but it is just the consistency. If you are not winning games that can affect confidence.
“It is a young group in terms of experience and they are learning. I am sure you will see some of that team, some of that group in the Premier League, whether it is this year, next year or years to come, because there is a lot of talent just not the experience needed."
