The latest Premier League transfer news including Liverpool, Chelsea, Leeds United and more
The 2025/26 Premier League season is all but done, with just one gameweek left to go this weekend. It’s been a typically eventful campaign, with an enthralling title race and relegation battle twisting and turning since last August. We’ve had dramatic sackings and VAR shambles galore, keeping fans locked in fierce debate for months on end.
While we’re champing at the bit to get stuck into this summer’s World Cup, the summer transfer window will also be vying for our attention. Most Premier League clubs are set for a frantic few months of player trading, with a view to strengthening their respective sides significantly to hit the ground running next season.
We begin today’s round-up at Stamford Bridge, where the Blues are gearing up for a crucial transfer window under newly appointed manager Xabi Alonso. The club are expected to alter their high stakes, youth-focused transfer policy and take significant input from the new man in the dugout, after repeatedly falling short with their previous director-led recruitment strategy.
Caught Offside note that Alonso’s first port of call will be bagging himself an “elite number nine” to lead the line, with Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen tipped to be top of his wish list. The report suggests that a top class goalkeeper and centre-back are the other main priorities, as the Blues looked to add an experienced spine to their otherwise raw squad.
The 3AM Verdict: We’ve clogged up enough of the internet ranting about Chelsea’s disastrous work in the transfer market under the BlueCo regime, so a change in approach is certainly welcome. Osimhen has been tipped to join the Premier League for years, and it’s been a shame to see his talent largely going under the radar during his time in Turkey. He’d be a splendid first summer signing for the Blues.
Leeds United take interest in Chelsea flop
Let’s stay in west London awhile longer, this time focusing on a potential outgoing. £39m flop Axel Disasi is widely expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, as the Blues look to cut their losses on a host of big-money signings. Disasi, who has spent the second half of the season out on loan with West Ham, is now said to have attracted the attention of Leeds United.
Football Insider state that the Whites are focusing on getting a new centre-back in this summer, and suggest they’ve been keeping a close eye on the 28-year-old former France international. The report also contends that Leeds won’t be alone in their hopes of signing the defender, and that he is unlikely to be sold for a bargain fee despite the Blues’ apparent desire to be rid of him.
The 3AM Verdict: What Leeds have seen in Disasi, we do not know. He’s simply not adapted to the rigours of Premier League football since that big-money move from Monaco back in 2023. That said, he has put in some decent displays here and there for the Hammers amid their relegation battle. Leeds can do better, though, and should look elsewhere this summer.
In-demand full-back wants Liverpool move
To wrap things up it’s over to Anfield, where Liverpool - who spent over £400m on new signings last summer - could be set to go big again once the window re-opens next month. The right full-back area is one of particular concern, with Jeremie Frimpong far from dazzling in his debut season at the club, and Conor Bradley remaining an injury concern.
Team Talk now claim that Inter full-back Denzel Dumfries’ entourage are “actively pushing” to get their client to Liverpool, as he looks for a fresh challenge this summer. It’s said that a fee of around £20m could seal the deal, and that Arsenal and Manchester City are also keeping an eye on the player’s situation.
The 3AM Verdict: At £20m, Dumfries would be a bargain. However, it would make things rather messy once Bradley is back from injury, given that three players will then be scrapping for one spot. Liverpool cutting their losses on Frimpong after one below par season would be a bit hasty, and they’d do well to persevere with him for now and resist signing Dumfries to avoid a bigger headache with frustrated players further down the line.
