Djed Spence fumes after Chelsea player wasn’t sent off during Blues win vs Tottenham

Chelsea picked up their usual three points at Stamford Bridge against Tottenham to break their winless run in the Premier League, although Djed Spence wasn’t happy they kept 11 players on the pitch.

Goals from Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos kept the Blues’ European hopes alive, whilst also throwing their opponents into a final day relegation battle.

Chelsea had to hold on in the final stages, as Spurs’ desperation to get a rare point in West London, however their efforts fell short.

Djed Spence fumes as Liam Delap not sent off during Chelsea vs Tottenham

Conor Gallagher was an unpopular figure inside Stamford Bridge, as were those who came off the bench to try and change the game, including Djed Spence.

An incident in the second half saw the full-back clash with Liam Delap, catching a stray arm to the face as the striker looked to get in on goal.

Spence was clearly not happy with the challenge, taking to his own X account to post a clip of it alongside a series of laughing emojis.

The replies to this post were full of Spurs fans who were clearly unhappy Delap had remained on the pitch, with the North London club of the belief a lot of decisions haven’t gone their way this season.

There was also talk of a penalty shout for Spurs when Marc Cucurella was booked for holding in the penalty area at a corner, although this was judged to take place before the set piece was taken.

Does Liam Delap deserve a chance under Xabi Alonso?🤔

Perhaps he can work his magic on him!

Delap fails Xabi Alonso test

In the first Chelsea game since Xabi Alonso had been officially announced as the incoming manager, it was clear to see some were playing for their place in his squad.

Cole Palmer put out his best performance in months, however Delap failed to make the most of a rare start in place of Joao Pedro.

Calum McFarlane wouldn’t confirm after the game that Pedro would be fit enough to face Sunderland on the final day.

His place as the starting striker was only enhanced from the Spurs game though, which is worrying signs for Delap ahead of the summer transfer window.
