Despite Erling Haaland’s late goal, Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw against AFC Bournemouth, which led to Arsenal being crowned as the 2025/2026 Premier League champions.

Arsenal’s league triumph has been widely celebrated as Mikel Arteta and his players have managed to win the title for the first time since 2004.

Martin Odegaard has been a brilliant skipper throughout his time in N5 but the Norwegian’s name may be mentioned alongside the likes of Tony Adams and Patrick Vieira as legendary club captains.

After Bournemouth and Manchester City’s pulsating clash, Haaland congratulated his fellow countryman.

Haaland famously taunted Mikel Arteta last season by advising him to “stay humble” but the Spaniard and his Arsenal side have bit back in the best possible fashion by winning the league.

Meanwhile, things are not as rosy at the Etihad Stadium as Pep Guardiola looks set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season.

Despite Haaland’s disappointment at City losing out on the league title, he feels Odegaard deserved the trophy.

The star striker told Norwegian outlet Viaplay: “Arsenal, when you get the most points, you deserve to win the league. Congrats to Martin Odegaard.

“Congrats to Martin. It’s well-deserved. He deserves this trophy. It’ll be tough to see him lift the trophy but it’s fantastic when a Norwegian wins the Premier League and lifts the Premier League trophy. Congrats to him. He deserves it.”

Odegaard will appreciate Haaland’s message, considering the Manchester City goalscorer is one of the best players in the world and he seems to be happy for the Arsenal midfielder.

Arsenal play PSG in the Champions League final and they could make history by winning the double now, a feat the club is yet to accomplish since their inception in 1886.

As the North Londoners won the title, Sky Sports shared a photo of Odegaard drinking from a bottle with the Arsenal crest.

The former Real Madrid playmaker seemed to mock the Manchester City fan, who famously mocked Arsenal when the Sky Blues won 3-0 against Chelsea recently.

Arsenal have been called ‘bottlers’ for years but they have dispelled such tags by winning the league now.
