Axel Disasi has already shared his stance on West Ham if they get relegated

Chelsea loanee Axel Disasi’s long-term future at West Ham has become heavily tied to a crucial stipulation ahead of the summer transfer window.

Axel Disasi’s January loan move to West Ham United has added a layer of drama to the final weekend of the Premier League season. After being entirely frozen out by Enzo Maresca at Chelsea during the first half of the campaign, the 28-year-old has become a fan favorite at the London Stadium, starting 13 consecutive matches to anchor Nuno Espirito Santo’s defensive line.

However, following a 3-1 defeat at Newcastle, West Ham have plummeted into the relegation zone, sitting 18th with just 36 points ahead of their final-day showdown against Leeds United. Anything but a win would condemn the Hammers to relegation, and they need Tottenham to lose.

Axel Disasi doesn’t want to slip into the Championship

Back in March, reliable West Ham source ExWHUemployee (via C&H) stated that Disasi wants to make his loan move permanent, but the Hammers would need to avoid relegation this season.

Now, his stance may have changed since then and he could be open to dropping down to the Championship, but it remains to be seen, should relegation be suffered.

However, a part of Disasi may be thinking that he could get a chance under Xabi Alonso at Chelsea, though given how he was treated in the past, he may be over a return to Stamford Bridge.

Does Axel Disasi have a future at Chelsea?

Realistically, Axel Disasi faces an uphill battle to find a place in Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea squad, even with a shift to a five-back system. While a three-centre-back shape theoretically requires more depth, Alonso’s setup demands exceptional mobility and composure on the ball from his defenders.

With Levi Colwill, Trevoh Chalobah, a fit-again Wesley Fofana, and the versatile Jorrel Hato all perfectly suited to these specific requirements, Disasi sits comfortably down the pecking order.

Plus, his heavier profile and vulnerability when defending large spaces simply do not align with Alonso’s high-line demands, making a permanent move the best outcome for everyone.

However, Glen Johnson thinks we could see him back at Chelsea, so who knows.
