Manchester City star Erling Haaland disagreed with manager Pep Guardiola on how to view the season after being beaten to the Premier League title by Arsenal. The Norwegian was quick to tell his team-mates that they should be 'angry' as he warned the Gunners for next season.

Mikel Arteta's men saw the title confirmed on Tuesday night with City only managing a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth. The final whistle sparked scenes of jubilation at the Emirates Stadium, with celebrations likely to continue until the side picks up the trophy on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal have been locked in a title race with City for the last few months, with a few twists and turns along the way. After finishing second in the last three years (twice to Man City), it’s now Arsenal’s time to celebrate.

For City, they are left reflecting on the season, which could be Guardiola’s final in charge of the club.

Speaking after the draw against Bournemouth, Guardiola said his team should be proud of the effort they put into the race. “Congratulations to Arsenal, Mikel Arteta and his backroom staff and fans for this Premier League - it’s well deserved,” he said.

“At the same time, during my managerial career, it was one of the years where we fought the most with incredible things that we could not control. We were always there and never gave up.

“I would have loved to arrive in the last moment to try even though it wasn’t in our own hands.

“Today the fatigue was there, they had 12 days to prepare that game and they played for qualification for the Champions League with an extraordinary team and are incredibly well managed.

“Since January we were really good. We had a lot of injuries and many things that were out of our control.

“We learned a lot this season. What we have to do to win. We have to win a lot of points, we have to have an advantage otherwise there are circumstances that you cannot control.

“We played many, many moments with difficulty and never gave up. That is why we are here.”

Arsenal are Premier League champions and fans can celebrate the historic achievement by securing the new 2026/27 home kit with 'Champions 26' printing.

But Haaland took a different stance, not hiding his disappointment.

“In the end, every game in the Premier League is difficult. We tried. It wasn’t enough," the striker told City Studios .

“The whole Club should use this as motivation now. We should be angry, we should feel a fire inside our belly because it’s not good enough. It’s gone two years now, it feels like forever. We’re going to do everything we can, everyone that will be here next season, to win the league.”

His clarion call will send a clear message to Arsenal as he and City start to turn their attentions to reclaiming their crown next season.
