Morten Hjulmand is being pursued by Arsenal. The skipper of Portuguese club Sporting CP is on the priority of the Arsenal transfer list.
Arsenal Frontrunner in securing Morten Hjulmand
As per GIVEMESPORT, the Gunners aim to secure Hjulmand. Interestingly, **Arsenal**is not the only club interested in the Danish player. The North London club is jostling with Manchester United. Hjulmand **took over**as the skipper of Sporting CP in July 2024. He had replaced outgoing skipper Sebastian Coates.
The 26-year-old has a release clause of £70 million. However, Sporting CP **halved**the price to nearly £35 million this year, should Hjulmand leave the club. That’s why United and Arsenal are competing for him. Hjulmand is not the only player sought by the North London club. His teammate Viktor Gyokeres had **joined**the Gunners in July 2025. The Swedish striker has made an outstanding debut this season. He played a crucial role in Arsenal’s outstanding performance in the 2025-26 season.
The Danish player had a great 2025-26 season. Under him, Sporting CP finished second in the Primeira Liga. The Portuguese club also made it to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. They eventually lost to Arsenal by a score of 1-0.

Can Hjulmand Change the Fortunes of Arsenal?
The Arsenal transfer of Hjulmand will be beneficial in the long run. The North London club needs a strong midfielder. The Danish player more than fits the bill.
Arsenal are enjoying a dream run. The Gunners are leading the **Premier League**table right now. They finished second in the EFL Cup last year. The club also qualified for the UEFA Champions League finals. Team manager Mikel Arteta aims to maintain this momentum.
