Following the appointment of Xabi Alonso at Stamford Bridge, Enzo Fernandez’s entourage has already mapped out a definitive stance regarding the midfielder’s long-term future at Chelsea.
Enzo Fernandez’s current contract situation at Chelsea has taken an intriguing turn following the appointment of Xabi Alonso. Despite being tied to Stamford Bridge on an incredibly long-term deal that runs all the way until 2032, the Argentine midfielder’s representatives have been locked in ongoing, intermittent negotiations with the club hierarchy since December.
While he remains a big part of the Blues’ long-term project, no final agreement has been reached yet.
It seems as if Fernandez has certain terms he wants the club to meet before he commits, having urged the board to match the calibre of the incoming manager by aggressively targeting proven players like Tottenham captain Cristian Romero in the summer.

Enzo Fernandez’s camp set to open talks in the summer
In a report from Football.London, they claim that Enzo Fernandez will be talking to Chelsea about a new contract in the summer, despite cryptic comments.
It seems as if the Real Madrid comments have been forgotten all those months ago, with the arrival of Xabi Alonso giving Fernandez a new lease of life.
His telephone celebration after his goal against Tottenham raised plenty of speculation too, as to whether he was taking the mick out of Xavi Simons or whether he’s pointing towards a new deal at Chelsea.

Chelsea must not give in to obscene wage demands
A report came out months ago amid contract talks between Chelsea and Enzo Fernandez that the Blues are willing to go beyond £400,000 per week, including bonuses for him to stay at Stamford Bridge.
However, this cannot happen.
A wage package eclipsing £400,000 per week for Enzo Fernandez is a financial impossibility for Chelsea in the current economic climate. Offering such an extortionate salary would completely obliterate the strict, heavily incentivised wage structure BlueCo implemented to ensure long-term stability.
Furthermore, with Chelsea already walking a tightrope with the possibility of missing out on European football, this just seems completely foolish.
