Chelsea have an advantage in the race to sign West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen should the Irons be relegated from the Premier League this season.

West Ham are hanging on by a thread going into the final day of the season, although have been given a helping hand by the Blues.

Chelsea target Jarrod Bowen wants to stay in London

Whichever side goes down are surely going to part ways with some of their big names, and Chelsea have been linked with Bowen as a potential signing.

Journalist Simon Phillips believes that the winger has been on the club’s list for a while now, and he would like to stay in London if he was to move.

He said on his Substack: “So, I can confirm that the Bowen interest is legit. And further to that, we have some more sourced info on it further below…

“Bowen is a target identified by the club way before Xabi Alonso was being spoken to. So Alonso would have to sign it off, and at this moment, I’m not sure that he has or that he will. We will try and find that info out soon.

“However, SPTC Sources can confirm that Bowen is certainly a player on Chelsea’s summer short list of possible names they might want to approach.

“And further to this, we have heard that Bowen is now preparing to leave West Ham this summer, with relegation looking likely, and he also has a desire to ideally stay in London. This would make Chelsea a desirable choice for the attacker.”

It’s going to be a big summer for Xabi Alonso and Chelsea!

Chelsea need Premier League proven wingers

While Joao Pedro is certainly a success story from the recent transfer window, the wingers the club have signed have not lived up to the required standards.

Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens look as if they are going to finish their first season at Chelsea with a combined one Premier League goal.

The Blues took a chance on both, but are now at a point where they need proven talent to see them move to the next level.

As well as Bowen, the likes of Anthony Gordon and Iliman Ndiaye would be candidates who fit what the club need this summer.
