Barcelona star Fermin Lopez has sent out a message from his hospital bed after undergoing surgery on a fractured metatarsal.
The midfielder sustained the injury in Sunday’s win over Real Betis and is now set for a spell on the sidelines.
Lopez will also miss World Cup 2026 with Spain and says it’s a cruel blow.
“The operation went very well, and now I’m already starting to think about coming back stronger, both physically and mentally,” he wrote on Instagram.
”Life and football are tough when you don’t expect it, or even when you don’t deserve it. But you have to accept that it’s all part of the journey.
”This is a very difficult time for me, a new challenge in my career that I will overcome, without a doubt. Now, it’s time to support the national team and my teammates from home.
”Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone for your support.
Let’s wish Fermin a swift recovery and hope he’s ready to go in time for next season.
