Calum McFarlane has admitted that Chelsea weren’t at their best in the win over Spurs last night, but they have one player who steps up in key moments to deliver goals and assists.
Enzo Fernandez fired one in from range and then cushioned a cross to Andrey Santos for his team’s second. He was the difference between two evenly matched sides.
Enzo’s decisive moments save Chelsea again
“I thought Enzo was exceptional tonight. I thought his goal was brilliant,” McFarlane said.
“His assist as well, he’s obviously made a massive impact. I don’t think there was anyone you could name on our team that didn’t give absolutely everything to get the win. We don’t want to single out one player. I thought the whole team, the subs came off the bench and gave energy when we needed it. I thought it was a real team performance.”
Enzo has had his ups and downs at Chelsea, but nobody can deny he’s decisive in a way that few players are.
In other news…
The Chelsea coach admitted his team’s energy levels were far from where they needed to be – but they picked their moments and scored twice.
McFarlane also spoke about three of the players who missed last night’s win – all of them sound like they should be ready to go again by Saturday.
