Arsenal are still savouring the feeling of being Premier League champions. The club’s 22-year wait ended on Tuesday, ensuring the title race did not go down to the final day.

Mikel Arteta’s side rejoiced as Manchester City dropped points against Bournemouth to end their title challenge. The manager was not with his squad during their crowning moment but had put plans in place to ensure the team could celebrate their achievement together.

It means that there will be no pressure on the Gunners’ final league match against Crystal Palace on Sunday. The trophy parade has been booked for May 31 and Arsenal fans will hope to see two pieces of silverware on display as the team look ahead to next week’s Champions League final.

The Gunners will also have one eye on the upcoming transfer window, with one star reportedly open to leaving the club. Here, Mirror Football looks at some of the biggest Arsenal stories.

Mikel Arteta's private message revealed

The Arsenal boss contacted his squad after their win against Burnley on Monday. Arteta sent a WhatsApp at 11pm to make sure that his players watched Manchester City’s clash with Bournemouth together at their London Colney training ground.

The Spanish coach waited until his side had secured three points to share his message, not wanting his team to overlook their Burnley fixture. Once it was possible for the club to win the title on Tuesday night, Arteta delayed training until later in the day so that the squad could watch City’s game as a group.

Upon becoming champions, the Arsenal squad celebrated and were given permission to go out. Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber and Eberechi Eze were pictured outside the Emirates Stadium at 5am.

The manager chose to watch the decisive match at home and spend the occasion with his family. However, he joined up with his players later that night.

Arsenal star ‘open’ to move

Sky Sport Deutschland has reported that Borussia Dortmund are “making another attempt” to sign Ethan Nwaneri this summer. The Arsenal prospect has spent the second half of the season on loan at Marseille after struggling for minutes with the Gunners.

The German publication claims that Dortmund have asked about the 19-year-old’s situation. Nwaneri is reportedly “open” to joining the club this summer but a permanent move is deemed unlikely due to the “high transfer fee” required.

The midfielder is under contract with the Gunners until 2030. Finalising a loan move is also claimed to be difficult for Dortmund, though the Bundesliga club remain interested in the Arsenal star.

Nwaneri has played in nine league games for Marseille, scoring twice. He had made six cameo appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League this season before heading to France.
