Chelsea want to sign six-time Premier League winner for Xabi Alonso this summer

Chelsea will look to add more experience to their squad in the upcoming transfer window to help out new manager Xabi Alonso.

The Blues have had a disappointing season, and there is acknowledgement that their team is lacking ready-made players.

Aston Villa’s triumph in the Europa League final means sixth place in the Premier League may be enough to secure Champions League qualification.

But Chelsea have been so poor that it is not possible for them even to finish there.

If Enzo Fernandez leaves, we should be all over Bernardo Silva 🤩

He's set to be available on a free transfer this summer!

Chelsea showing interest in Bernardo Silva

One experienced player who is reportedly on Chelsea’s radar is Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva.

According to Marca, Chelsea are one of several top clubs who are interested in signing the attacking midfielder this summer.

Silva is set to play his final game for City on Sunday, with the Portuguese leaving the club in June when his contract expires.

In August, Silva turns 32. He is currently City’s captain and a six-time Premier League winner. Simply put, the Portugal international is the kind of player Chelsea are lacking.

Silva would be an ideal signing for the Blues, especially if Enzo Fernandez leaves Stamford Bridge. The Argentine has been linked to Silva’s current employers and Real Madrid.

Bernardo Silva’s Premier League stats

Silva was not a passenger as he picked up his six Premier League winners’ medals. Without him, City may have not been as successful.

In total, Silva has made 303 appearances in the English top flight and will have a chance to add to that one more time this Sunday.

Across those games, the former AS Monaco man has scored 45 goals and provided 50 assists.

He would have been desperate to say goodbye with another Premier League title to his name, but in the end, Arsenal produced a bit more quality than City, managing to pip them to first place.

Chelsea have not won the title since 2017, but maybe a signing like Silva can put them in contention again.
