In a twist, Enzo Maresca looks set to finally get his hands on a top target at Manchester City, winning the battle over Chelsea.
Enzo Maresca had his struggles, with his time at Chelsea plagued by constant disagreements with the recruitment team before his departure in January. The Italian grew frustrated with the club’s strategy of signing young prospects rather than the specific, mature players he needed for his system.
His main frustration came when the board blocked his move for key targets who fit his blueprint, as well as complaining that his tactics were being undermined by signings he did not want.
Now, as he looks like taking over from Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, the hierarchy is wasting no time in backing him.

Man City advanced in a deal for Elliot Anderson
Interestingly, Elliot Anderson has been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, and Sam Allardyce reckoned he might be heading to Stamford Bridge.
However, it looks as if he’s set to end up at Manchester City.
According to INews, Man City believes a deal for Elliot Anderson is well advanced and Pep Guardiola’s exit will not disrupt the transfer.
Most importantly, the player is keen and Enzo Maresca is on board with the signing.

Enzo Maresca wanted Elliot Anderson at Chelsea
Enzo Maresca identified Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson as the ideal signing for his midfield double pivot at Chelsea.
But it never materialised, with Maresca leaving on the first day of the January transfer window.
He’s already getting the backing he was denied at Chelsea, and what makes it even more bitter for the Blues is the fact that he’s a player they have been chasing for months.
However, it was always going to be difficult after missing out on Champions League football this season.
