Manchester City transfer target Givairo Read
Manchester City are keen on signing Bayern Munich target Givairo Read in the summer.
In November, Manchester City and Bayern Munich sent their officials to watch the right-back in action for Feyenoord.
On April 22nd, Sport Witness relayed news the Bundesliga winners are keen on signing him.
The same source stated the Dutch club are happy that Manchester City have entered the race.
Feyenoord manager Robin van Perisie insists the 19-year-old is ready to take the big step.
The Premier League side consider Read as a ‘serious candidate’ to improve the right-back position next season.
That’s according to 1908.nl, who cover the latest on Manchester City and Bayern Munich.
Manchester City take lead
Vincent Kompany’s side have followed the Netherlands U21 international for a while and are showing the most interest. However, the Citizens are now in ‘pole position’, indicating they have overtaken the Bavarian club.
Pep Guardiola has utilised midfielder Matheus Nunes as his first choice right-back with Rico Lewis providing cover.
The Etihad club consider the right-back as ‘vulnerable position’ and therefore, are keen to strengthen this key area. Their search has seen them settle on Givairo Read and are now tempting him.
He picked up a hamstring injury in November and returned to action in January before suffering the same injury later that month. Read returned to action in April. His injuries don’t bother Manchester City, and their interest pleases the player.
Feyenoord, for their part, are open to letting the fullback leave, but for a club-record fee. Their current record, as per 1908.nl, is around €35m from Igor Paixão’s sale to Marseille last summer.
There’s been even reports of the Eredivisie side requesting €40m for Read. The final fee may at least be close to this figure.
Contract, value and agent info
Givairo Read will turn 20 years of age on June 2nd. His contract runs down in 2029 and is valued at €25m by Transfermarkt.
Dutch agency Muy Manero are representing the Feyenoord youngster.
