Celtic are reportedly in talks to sign Uruguayan starlet Agustin Dos Santos.

Hoops could finish the season with a league and cup double but know that they have plenty of work to do in both directions when the summer transfer window opens for business - with appointing a replacement for outgoing interim boss Martin O'Neill taking precedence.

And it's claimed that they have their eye on 18-year-old Dos Santos. The midfielder currently plies his trade with Uruguayan league champions Nacional and has made four appearances in the prestigious Copa Libertadores this season.

Dos Santos was born in South America but his father, Jonathan is a former Barcelona star who is winding his career down with Club America back home in Mexico.

The teen's uncle Giovani dos Santos also came through the ranks at Barca and racked up 106 caps for Mexico following spells with several clubs including Tottenham, Villarreal and LA Galaxy.

Sources in Uruguay claim that Celts have already initiated talks with Nacional and Dos Santos' agent about a potential move to Parkhead.

The playmaker - who has been capped for Uruguay at U17 level - is under contract until December 2027.

Hoops have been linked with a whole host of names ahead of the summer window, including Schalke midfielder Soufiane El Faouzi and defensive duo Oskar Wojcik and Zinedin Smajlovic from KS Cracovia and Sandefjord respectively.

Celtic are also one of a number of teams credited with an interest in Wolfsberger goalkeeper Nikolas Polster. And the Austrian shot-stopper has confirmed he is actively seeking a big transfer this summer.

After helping his side retain their place in the Austrian Bundesliga for next season, the 23-year-old feels his performances have merited a lucrative transfer.

The £1.5million-rated player - who has drawn comparisons with Bayern Munich and Germany icon Manuel Neuer - said: We'll see, there's been a lot written about it already. Personally, I'm obviously aiming to move. I've earned it. Playing abroad is every footballer's goal. I'm at a good age to try and make that move."
