Arsenal Star (Who Jurrien Timber Has Branded As“Amazing”) Could Leave Less Than A Year After Being Signed

Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera is a transfer target for Atletico Madrid, according to reports.

CBS Sports journalist James Benge claims that the Gunners could make a “tidy profit” on the Spanish international, who was signed for an inital €15m (£13m) from Valencia last summer.

However, at the moment, there is no indication whether the London club would be tempted to offload Mosquera less than a year after he made the switch to the Emirates.

While there is no immediate pressure to sell players, it is believed that money will need to be raised in order to fund more signings during the next transfer window.

The likes of Ben White, Gabriel Jesus, Ethan Nwaneri, and Gabriel Martinelli are expected to be made available for transfer, while there are doubts over the futures of Myles Lewis-Skelly and Leandro Trossard as well.

Mosquera’s departure would be a surprise, considering how quickly he has established himself as a useful rotation option for manager Mikel Arteta.

Teammates have been full of praise for Mosquera

Speaking back in September after the 2-0 away win against Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League group stage, Jurrien Timber waxed lyrical about his fellow defender’s ability:

“He does amazing. Still so young, the way he comes in, it looks so easy for him, winning his duels and on the ball as well. It is great to have him next to me, and I think he has a bright future ahead as well.”

Arsenal could use him in negotiations for Alvarez

Benge also confirms reports from elsewhere that the Gunners are keen on snapping up Julian Alvarez, but the cost of recruiting the Argentinian international would be sizeable.

If Atletico are hoping to sign Mosquera, there is a possibility of offering him in part-exchange for Alvarez, which would reduce the price needed to bring in the former Manchester City striker.
