Arsenal attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri is “open” to joining Borussia Dortmund, according to reports in the German media.

The teenager is unlikely to remain at the Emirates after returning from his loan spell at Marseille this summer, and a permanent departure is on the cards.
Sky Sport Deutschland claim that Dortmund have enquired about Nwaneri’s situation, with the player interested in making the switch to the Bundesliga club.
However, the cost of signing the 19-year-old is currently deemed too “high” for Niko Kovac’s team, while the Gunners are unlikely to be willing to loan him out for a second season in a row.
Where have things gone wrong for Nwaneri?
The England Under-21 international only signed a new four-year contract with Arsenal last June, but the arrival of Eberechi Eze limited his game time in the first half of the season.
It led to Nwaneri pushing for a temporary exit during the January transfer window, and he got his wish by sealing a loan move to Marseille.
However, within days, the manager who had signed him, Roberto De Zerbi, had left the Stade Velodrome, and his replacement, Habib Beye, has barely played him.

Why are Arsenal looking to sell him?
Considering how recently they handed Nwaneri a contract extension, you would have thought that the Gunners would be willing to give him another chance on his return from France.
However, there is a need to balance the books, and selling homegrown players, like Nwaneri, go down as pure profit on the balance sheet.
It means that, in all likelihood, the youngster will be offloaded over the next few months if his price tag is met. At the moment, it doesn’t appear Dortmund are willing to match it.
