Xabi Alonso’s latest message to Chelsea board about wantaway Marc Cucurella

Chelsea are going to have to make some big calls in the upcoming transfer window, but it looks like they will get the full support of their manager Xabi Alonso.

Several of their players are currently being linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge, including Enzo Fernandez, Joao Pedro and Marc Cucurella.

In fact, it has already been claimed that Cucurella is definitely leaving Chelsea when the transfer market opens.

Xabi Alonso ready to accept Marc Cucurella sale

It is thought that Alonso’s preference is to keep Cucurella at Chelsea this summer. However, the defender is approaching the final two years of his contract and seems unsettled, which Alonso appears to have acknowledged.

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that Alonso understands the situation his employers are in and will respect their decision to sell Cucurella if it comes to that despite wanting to keep hold of him.

According to Phillips, the left-back has had his heart set on leaving the club this summer since January, so a transfer definitely looks possible.

Former club Barcelona are interested in Cucurella, but there are doubts as to whether they can afford him.

The Catalan outfit need to put their funds into signing a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who is leaving the Camp Nou on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Lewis Hall could replace Marc Cucurella at Chelsea

The potential departure of Cucurella could pave the way for Lewis Hall to return to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea sold Hall to Newcastle United permanently back in 2024, and the 21-year-old has since developed into one of the Premier League’s top left-backs.

Who would you sign to replace Marc Cucurella?

Marc Cucurella discussing his future

Chelsea are believed to be interested in re-signing Hall, who would be an excellent replacement for Cucurella.

Technically, Hall is great. The England international can carry the ball and pass, which is why he has even played in midfield at times.

Signing Hall would soften the blow of losing a left-back of Cucurella’s quality.
