Thomas Tuchel impressed by Chelsea player, could be surprise inclusion in World Cup squad

There is one match left for Chelsea to play this season before we head for the summer break. Of course, a lot of the players won’t get any time off. That is because the World Cup is set to start on June 11. That will soon be the focus of the entire footballing culture. And considering Thomas Tuchel’s record in knockout football should give England fans hope that they have a real chance of winning this thing.

Of course, Chelsea fans will know all about Tuchel’s prowess in tournament football. He won the Champions League with a front three of Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner. And was unlucky not to win much more, losing at Wembley in numerous finals.

Anyways, now he is the England national team boss. And it looks like he has been impressed by one of Chelsea’s players, who could be a surprise inclusion in his World Cup squad, set to be announced on Friday.

According to an exclusive from The BluesFeed, Levi Colwill is on the verge of being included in England’s 26-man World Cup squad.

Levi Colwill has spent most of the season out injured

Colwill’s inclusion would not be a surprise due to a lack of quality. It simply would be because of the little football he has played leading up to the tournament.

Colwill suffered an ACL injury in pre-season training and has only been back in action over the last few games. The match against Liverpool was his first start. That was followed by the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

While Chelsea might not have won neither game, Colwill certainly raised the bar defensively and made them a much stronger team. That is impressive for someone who has spent so much time recovering from an ACL injury. But somehow, it does not look like he has missed a step. That deserves all the plaudits in the world.

Chelsea struggled this season due to Colwill’s absence

If Colwill makes the World Cup squad, it would be well deserved. Of course, we have our doubts about whether he is fit enough to be playing regularly yet.

After all, he was left out against Tottenham Hotspur due to his presence against Manchester City just a few days prior. That is how Chelsea should be handling his return to the pitch.

Of course, the World Cup is still a few more weeks away. It should give Colwill some more time to get up to full speed.
