Matt Law has assessed the likelihood of a potential Chelsea move for Dean Huijsen this summer, following interest before his move to Real Madrid.
Before Xabi Alonso took the reins at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea had been working tirelessly behind the scenes to secure Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth. However, the allure of Real Madrid completely disrupted Chelsea‘s plans when Alonso requested the youngster as a priority signing.
Huijsen blossomed under Alonso’s guidance.
This season is a different story. He’s endured a frustrating campaign following Xabi Alonso’s January departure and intense competition from seasoned defenders like Antonio Rudiger.
Struggling for consistent game time, he frequently finds himself relegated to the bench during Los Blancos’ disappointing, trophyless campaign.
Are you taking Thiago Silva back at Chelsea? If so, in what capacity?🤔

Dean Huijsen joining Chelsea remains unlikely this summer
Matt Law is the go-to man for any Chelsea news, but not even he thinks that Huijsen will be on his way to Stamford Bridge this summer, though he isn’t entirely ruling it out.
Speaking on the London Is Blue podcast, he said this.
Well, do you know the interesting one? But I don’t know whether this follows. Chelsea wants a centre-back. And which centre-back was the only centre-back Chelsea wanted last season?
Dean Huijsen, who went to Real Madrid to play for Xabi Alonso.
“The thing is, is that Dean Huijsen has hardly played for Real Madrid. And I don’t know whether that’s because Alonso looked at him and didn’t actually fancy him and he wasn’t an Alonso signing, or whether he was an Alonso signing and just couldn’t fit into that thing.
“So, could they revisit interesting Huijsen? I doubt it so early on. I doubt it, but interesting, nonetheless.”
Does Liam Delap deserve a chance under Xabi Alonso?🤔
Perhaps he can work his magic on him!

Why a move for Dean Huijsen is unlikely
Having heavily pursued the defender before his blockbuster £50 million move to Real Madrid, the Blues have effectively missed their window.
Huijsen remains locked into a long-term contract at the Bernabeu running until 2030, meaning Florentino Perez would demand an astronomical fee to even consider a sale.
Furthermore, despite a lack of consistent starts, the young Spaniard views breaking through at Madrid as his ultimate dream, meaning neither the player nor the Spanish giants have any desire to entertain a Premier League return.
Plus, no Champions League isn’t exactly an attractive proposal.
