Xabi Alonso had publicly declared his admiration for Yıldız, describing him as one of the most promising players in Europe and noting a personal connection from their shared time at Bayern Munich. Agent Giovanni Branchini went further, claiming Alonso told Madrid’s hierarchy he would sell anyone except Kylian Mbappé to secure the Turkish international’s signature.
On the departures side, Chelsea are widely expected to part ways with Alejandro Garnacho, whose signing has not lived up to expectations, with the Argentine having scored just one Premier League goal this season. Pedro Neto is also considered a likely exit.

Here is where it gets genuinely interesting. Chelsea, under whatever permanent structure follows this transitional period, do not necessarily need Yıldız in the same way Real Madrid do.
The Blues already have a crowded forward line, having recruited Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, and Liam Delap in recent windows, and are reportedly targeting eight or nine attacking options for rotation. Spending upwards of €90 million on another wide forward, at a time when Garnacho has already failed to justify a far smaller outlay, raises a fair question about squad planning.

If the long-term project demands a generational talent, Yıldız is exactly that, but paying premium transfer news prices for a player whose contract talks in Turin are still unresolved carries risk.
