Interim Burnley head coach Mike Jackson feels Arsenal deserved to be crowned Premier League champions this season.

The Clarets ran Mikel Arteta's men close on the night the Gunners needed three points to keep Manchester City at arm's length in the race for the title.

A 1-0 win for Arsenal at the Emirates meant City needed to beat Bournemouth to take their challenge to the final day of the season.

But maximum points against Burnley, and a 1-1 draw for City at Bournemouth the following night, meant the Gunners ended a 22-year wait for the title on Tuesday.

And while disappointed not to take something from a tight game against the now champions, Jackson feels Arsenal are worthy Premier League winners.

"They've been close the last couple of seasons. I think there's always going to be that edginess with them because they'd not got it over the line, but they've finally gone and done it and if you look at them as a team, as a group - when you play against them the other night - they can do all phases of the game really well," Jackson explained.

"If they need to suffer, they will, if they need to attack, they will. They get a lot of criticism for things, but I think if you're a coach watching them, you can learn a lot as well from them in every phase of the game.

"They're strong and they're deserving winners of the Premier League."
