The six players Arsenal must sell this summer - including £45m flop and ex-Leeds United gem

Premier League champions Arsenal are expected to sell a number of players this summer

The red side of north London is still a bouyant sea of celebration, after Arsenal ended a 22-year wait to finally win the Premier League again. Thanks to Manchester City’s midweek stalemate with Bournemouth, the Gunners won the title with a game to spare, and the Emirates Stadium will be in full-on party mode on Sunday when Mikel Arteta’s side get to lift the trophy in front of their home support.

On top of that, Arsenal have the small matter of the Champions League final ahead of them later this month, with Paris Saint-Germain awaiting them at the Puskas Arena in Budapest. The Gunners haven’t made the final of the competition since all the way back in 2006, when late goals from ex-Chelsea duo Samuel Eto’o and Juliano Belletti earned Barcelona a dramatic 2-1 victory.

Arsenal fans will already be dreaming of the big-money signings who could be attracted to the club this summer, as the Gunners look to build on a stellar 2026/27 campaign on push on for further glories next season. However, sales will also have to be made, and we’ve listed the players the club should look to move on before the start of the next campaign.

Six players Arsenal must sell this summer - White to Jesus

Ben White: The versatile defender has done an admirable job filling in when required this season, in what has been his fifth campaign for the Gunners. His minutes have gradually declined since the arrival of Jurrien Timber, however, and his frequent injury issues mean he can be a liability at times. Arsenal would do well to cash in the England international before his value drops too low.

Ethan Nwaneri: Things just haven’t worked out for the promising academy midfielder as the Gunners hoped they would, and the arrival of Eberechi Eze means he’s even less likely to break into the side next season. He’s been liked with a move away next summer, and Arsenal would significantly boost their PSR situation should they move him on in what would be considered a ‘pure profit’ sale. Given that he’s currently on loan at Marseille, he may well have played his last game in an Arsenal shirt.

Gabriel Jesus: Great things were expected of the Brazil international when he joined from Manchester City back in 2022, but his persistent injury issues have seen the £45m the club paid to bring him to the Emirates largely wasted. Given that he’s likely one of the club’s top earners, moving him on makes sense from a financial point of view, and Jesus will keen for a fresh start, too.

Six players Arsenal must sell this summer - Trossard to Martinelli

Leandro Trossard: With his contract set to expire next summer, Arsenal will look to move on the versatile Belgian forward while they can still get a fee for his services. Another reliable rotation option, the ex-Brighton star will be missed, but Arteta will be keen to bring in a higher quality option on the left wing as he looks to perfect an already formidable squad.

Christian Norgaard: Given the lengthy periods of injury crisis Arsenal suffered this season, you would have thought the ex-Brentford midfielder would have got a little more game time. Buttocks presumably numb from sitting astride the bench all season, Norgaard is highly likely to be sold. Myles Lewis-Skelly reverting to a midfield role, and impressing, will only have hastened his exit.

Gabriel Martinelli: It really is set to be all change on the left flank for the Gunners, with Martinelli also set to go. The 24-year-old, who has made over 270 appearances for the club, simply hasn’t blossomed into the player many hoped he would when he arrived as a raw talent back in 2019. Don’t be surprised to see PSG’s Bradley Barcola come in as his replacement.
