Max Dowman missed Arsenal’s training session just days after their Premier League triumph for a brilliant reason.

Arsenal were crowned Premier League champions on Tuesday after Manchester City dropped points against Bournemouth.

The Blues needed to win to take the title race to the last day. Junior Krupi opened the scoring in the first-half before Erling Haaland equalised in second-half stoppage time.

The result at the Vitality Stadium meant Man City couldn't catch Arsenal, who secured their first league title since 2004.

Arsenal will be presented with the league title on Sunday when they face Crystal Palace.

Dowman has played just five league games in Arsenal's Premier League-winning campaign but made a major contribution in his side's 2-0 victory over Everton in March.

With the Gunners being held at the Emirates, the 16-year-old came off the bench and inspired his team to victory. He set up Victor Gyokeres' 89th minute strike before adding a second to become the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history.

He'll be hoping to make an appearance at Selhurst Park with the league title wrapped up. But Dowman was absent in Arsenal's first training session since their league title triumph.

That's because Dowman was instead sitting his GCSE exams. It is now known which subjects he is studying, but GCSE exams are taking place this week, with GCSEs running from May 4 to June 26 this year.

But with half-term next week, he will be able to focus on Arsenal's Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on May 30.

Dowman's education was mentioned when he exploded onto the scene following his cameo against Everton earlier this year.

Wayne Rooney, who also scored in the Premier League as a 16-year-old sensation, referenced his education as he highlighted the balancing act the Arsenal starlet faces in his career.

Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show, he said: "What an opportunity for him to be around the squad. He could be a Premier League winner when he's still finishing school off.

"He's got an aura and a belief about him and it was the same against Everton. (But) if it's education first, I don't think we'll see much of him over the next few weeks.

"He has got his GCSEs, and his education, I'm sure for him and his family, is important as well.

"He won't be in as much as he'd probably like, but then you've got many years ahead of you."
