Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has just won the Premier League title – and somehow still ended up talking about Palmeiras again only two days later.
The 28-year-old finally lifted the trophy with Arsenal after the club ended their 22-year wait for the league title. It was another major achievement in a career already filled with silverware in England.
And yet, even during celebrations, Gabriel Jesus was once again discussing his dream of returning to Brazil. At this point, it is becoming a tradition.
That comes despite repeated reports that his priority remains staying in Europe, ideally in England, if he eventually leaves Arsenal. Still, the Palmeiras comments keep coming.
“I think about it every day”
Speaking to ESPN in London, Gabriel Jesus once again made his emotional connection with Palmeiras very clear.
“I think about it every day. I follow them closely. I watched the game yesterday, unfortunately they lost”, he said.
“It’s my dream. I’ve already made it clear that one day I will return. I just don’t know when, if it’s today or tomorrow. So yes, I think about it every day.”
He also reinforced that Palmeiras would be his only option if he returns to Brazilian football.
“The future belongs to God. It’s a club I care deeply about, I’m a passionate supporter. I’ve already said it many times – if I return to Brazil, Palmeiras will always be my option.”
Europe still the preferred path
Over the last few weeks, Gabriel Jesus has repeatedly stated that his priority is to remain in Europe. Ideally, he wants to continue in England even if he leaves Arsenal, where he knows he is underused.
Italy has also emerged as a serious possibility, with AC Milan and Juventus both linked. Arsenal are demanding around €30m (£26m), as per our lastest report.
Among Palmeiras supporters, that has already started causing frustration. Some fans feel he is gaslighting them without showing any real intention of returning soon.
Arsenal supporters, meanwhile, are watching a player who keeps flirting with another club while still under contract.
Arsenal future still unclear
Gabriel Jesus remains under contract until 2027. However, his future is still uncertain.
This season, he scored five goals in 26 matches and again dealt with injury problems. Even so, he played a role in Arsenal’s title-winning campaign and added another Premier League medal to his collection.
Remarkably, he now has five league titles in England, level with Fernandinho among Brazilian players. Only Ederson, with six, has won more.
But for now, the practical situation has not changed. But even after becoming a Premier League champion again, Gabriel Jesus still cannot stop talking about going home one day.
