Arsenal scouts attend multiple Bundesliga fixtures to track 19-year-old defender

Arsenal are reportedly exploring a potential move for highly-rated Noahkai Banks after closely monitoring the defender’s progress with Augsburg this season.

According to reports in Germany, Arsenal scouts have attended multiple Augsburg matches during the campaign to watch the 19-year-old centre-back in action as the club continue planning for the future despite already securing the Premier League title.

Banks emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s youngest regular defenders during parts of the 2025-26 season and made a strong impression with a series of mature displays at the back for Augsburg.

The teenager initially established himself as a consistent starter for the German side before gradually falling down the pecking order towards the closing weeks of the campaign.

Even so, his performances across the season appear to have attracted growing interest from several clubs around Europe, with Arsenal now among the sides keeping a close eye on his development.

Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are expected to strengthen multiple areas of the squad this summer as Arsenal prepare for another campaign competing on both domestic and European fronts.

While much of the focus has understandably centred around attacking reinforcements, Arsenal are also continuing to monitor emerging defensive talent capable of developing into long-term first-team options.

Banks fits that profile closely because of both his age and experience level.

Despite still being a teenager, the defender has already accumulated 31 senior appearances for Augsburg and gained valuable experience in one of Europe’s most demanding leagues.

The youngster’s composure in possession and physical profile are believed to be among the qualities that have particularly impressed Arsenal’s recruitment staff.

Banks himself recently admitted that the Premier League is one of the competitions he would love to experience at some stage in his career.

“It’s difficult to say because I really enjoy playing in the Bundesliga,” Banks explained earlier this year. “But there are a lot of great leagues such as the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga.”

The defender also revealed that Barcelona were the club he admired most growing up.

“One of the clubs I idolised while growing up was Barcelona,” Banks admitted. “I think I can say that’s my favourite club, so maybe one day it would be a dream to play for them.”

Arsenal’s interest remains at a monitoring stage for now, but the Gunners continue to actively track some of Europe’s best young talents as Arteta looks to build on the club’s Premier League triumph and establish a squad capable of sustaining success for years to come.
