Matt Law was on the London is Blue podcast this week with some interesting views on different players and how they might be affected by the arrival of Xabi Alonso.
Law questioned whether Marc Cucurella was a natural fit for Alonso’s style, considering his very specific demands for players in different positions.
Cucurella might not work in Alonso system says Law
“I’m not sure he’s quite the profile of wing back, [Alonso wants],” Law said.
“Alonso seems to like people who are very comfortable in possession rather than necessarily all action and all over the place. I’m just not sure Cucurella’s style of play and also potentially style of personality will suit what we know about and hear about Alonso.”
While we wouldn’t want to speculate about what type of player Alonso might want or not want, what we do know is that Cucurella’s contract expires in two years, and he will be sold this summer if he doesn’t sign a new deal.
In other news…
Enzo Fernandez could be on his way out at Chelsea despite the arrival of Xabi Alonso, with Real Madrid keen to sign him.
Xabi Alonso has been given a new title above what some of his predecessors had, as part of the campaign to secure him as our new boss.
