Everton hero issues personal plea to Dan Friedkin over transfer -'Has to be priority'

A personal plea to Dan Friedkin to sign Jack Grealish again for Everton next season has been issued by Anders Limpar

Jack Grealish sounds up for a Hill Dickinson Stadium return next season and Everton owner Dan Friedkin has been asked to sign him.

Having been snapped up by David Moyes last August, Grealish received the first Premier League Player of the Month award of his career in the week of his 30th birthday after providing four assists in his first two starts.

He then followed that up with Hill Dickinson Stadium’s first stoppage time winner in the 2-1 comeback victory over Crystal Palace and Everton’s first Premier League success over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

However, after helping the Blues to arguably their best result of the season, a 1-0 triumph on January 18 at his home city club Aston Vill, who had won their previous 11 home games and where he played from the age of six until becoming the first £100million English footballer when moving to the Etihad Stadium in 2021, it was revealed that Grealish had suffered a major injury setback and he has subsequently undergone surgery for a stress fracture in his left foot.

Speaking last month when inviting Special Olympics athletes who completed the London Marathon to Hill Dickinson Stadium through his role as principal ambassador of Special Olympics Great Britain, Grealish revealed his surgeon had told him that his recovery “couldn’t be looking any better at this stage.”

He added: “I can’t thank Everton enough for the way they’ve been with me since I’ve been injured – they’ve been brilliant. From the staff, to the players, to the manager.”

The Brummie star’s love affair with the Blues seemed to be continuing on Thursday night when video footage of him at Everton’s end of season awards black tie event showed him enjoying himself with friends while leading the singing of: “One more year Jackie Grealish, playing football the Everton way.”

Someone who will be encouraged by that is Everton FA Cup hero Anders Limpar, a boyhood Blue from Sweden who helped the club defeat Manchester United in the 1995 final for what remains the club’s most recent major trophy.

Now 60, he has issued a personal plea to Everton chairman Friedkin to sign Grealish.

Limpar told Betano Online Casino: “The fees nowadays are just diabolical. You used to pay £1.6million for a player [his own fee when he moved from Arsenal to Goodison Park], now we’re talking about £80million.

“We’re talking about £50million for Jack Grealish. You could buy the whole Premier League back in the 1990s for £50million, it’s just ridiculous money.

“However, my message is buy him, buy him, buy him, Everton, please, because he’s the man who makes other players look good.

“When he’s playing, he takes the pressure off of Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Everton need to play like that, to be calm on the ball, getting the team up 10, 15 yards up the pitch.

“You need a player who is comfortable on the ball. You need a creator.

“He is a big character in the dressing room. Everybody loves him, the fans love him.

“Even if he comes on loan, it would be great news. And I pray that he’s almost fit to play again because it was a horrendous injury with operations and everything.

“Do something to make sure that he’s playing next season for Everton. Even if he still goes on loan, or buy him, please do it because he’s a great player for Everton Football Club and all the players around him love him, he has to be the priority.”
