Piero Hincapie hits back at Manchester City. His club Arsenal overcame the Sky Blues to win the Premier League title. This is their first title victory after 22 years.

Piero Hincapie responds to jibe from Manchester City fan

As per DAILY STAR, the Gunners celebrated until late night this Tuesday. This is also their first major trophy in a long time. The club had last won the FA Cup in 2020. They **defeated**Chelsea by 2-1 in the finals. The finals were conducted in an empty Wembley Stadium, courtesy the COVID-19 pandemic. **The Gunners**‘ last match is a mere formality. They will face Crystal Palace in the final match on Sunday. After that, they’ll be formally handed over the Premier League silverware.

Arsenal had a reason to celebrate. They had won a Premier League title after more than two decades. However, it was Hincapie’s celebration that went viral. But what did the left-back exactly do? He drank from an Arsenal bottle while performing a jig as a response to the Sky Blues.

This symbolic gesture has an interesting history. As per Football London, a Man City fan mocked the North London club last month. He sipped from a bottle to prove that the Gunners ‘choked’ under pressure. Eventually, Hincapie had the last laugh.

Interestingly, this wasn’t the only viral moment for the Arsenal player in the past few days. During the match against Burnley on May 19, Hincapie clashed with Axel Tuanzebe. Both tumbled down, and Hincapie **suffered**a wardrobe malfunction.

Hincapie’s stats for the 2025-26 season, as per Fotmob:

Competitions Matches Goals Assists Duels Won Tackles Interceptions

Premier League 24 1 2 99 48 24

EFL Cup 3 0 0 16 8 1

Piero Hincapie’s Performance This Season

Hincapie performed well in the Premier League this season. He came on loan to the Gunners in September 2025. Previously, the defender played for the German club, Bayer Leverkusen. He represented the club from 2021 to mid 2025. Before that, he played for Argentine club Talleres. Hincapie played for the club between 2020 and 2021.

Hincapie made his **debut**for the Gunners against Athletic Bilbao. However, he was pulled off soon due to a groin injury. The left-back from Ecuador returned in action by October 2025. He made his EFL Cup debut against Brighton & Hove Albion. In less than a year, the left-back became the backbone of Arsenal’s defense.

The 24-year-old also helped the Gunners reach the UEFA Champions League finals. The Gunners will be facing the Paris Saint-Germain club on May 30. The finals will be held at Puskas Stadium in Budapest, Hungary.

Piero Hincapie’s gameplan after Arsenal Premier League title

The Premier League victory isn’t only memorable for Hincapie and his teammates. It is also the perfect redemption for manager Mikel Arteta. The former player **rejoined**the Gunners as the manager in 2019. However, Arsenal were no more ‘The Invincibles’ of European football as they were between 2003 and 2004.

The North London club’s performance had dwindled in the past few years. They would start well, show some spark, and then fizzle out. That’s why they were **trolled**online as ‘bottlers’. As the team manager, Arteta had to bring the Gunners back to winning ways. He overhauled the team from scratch.

However, the job is far from over. Arteta has to ensure that Arsenal wins the Champions League. That’s where Hincapie’s defensive tactics will come handy. The Ecuador defender’s job is far from over. He needs to be on his toes until May 30.
