Tottenham have received a big injury boost ahead of their final showdown vs. Everton.
It all comes down to the final day of the season for Tottenham Hotspur as they host Everton at home with their Premier League status still undecided.
Spurs needed a point against Chelsea to guarantee their place in the top flight next season. Instead, a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge left them with work to do on the final day of the season. Following an underwhelming showing earlier this week, they have reignited West Ham’s hopes of staying up with two points separating the London rivals.
All focus now shifts towards the final game of the campaign against Everton. Roberto De Zerbi has urged his players to play with courage and pride to beat the Toffees and fulfil the club’s objective.
Roberto De Zerbi gives injury Tottenham team news ahead of the Everton game
Guglielmo Vicario recovered after undergoing groin surgery in March and returned to the squad against Chelsea. De Zerbi decided to stick with Antonin Kinsky in goal following his strong form, coupled with Vicario’s lack of physical fitness.
Dominic Solanke couldn’t make it for the previous game, but the Spurs boss has delivered a positive injury update on the striker. He has also shed light on James Maddison’s fitness.
“Solanke is available for tomorrow, we have to decide if he starts in the first 11 or not, and Maddison is available,” De Zerbi said in his pre-match press conference (h/t Football London).
“He’s always tough and decides before the game how many minutes he can play. Of course, he’s a different player, he’s a top player for us, but we have to analyse the physical condition, the Italian weather, but yeah, both are available.”
Spurs fans were taken aback on Thursday when it emerged that Djed Spence suffered a broken jaw after his collision with Chelsea striker Liam Delap. De Zerbi did not address Spence’s broken jaw issue separately in his press conference, which our fans might assume that the full-back should be fine to start on the bench.
Tottenham get Dominic Solanke injury boost
De Zerbi will be hoping to get all the help he can on the judgement day vs. Everton. And he has got one in the form of Solanke, who has been out with a hamstring injury in the last few games. The England international will be an attacking option to bring off the bench if the home side needs a goal.
And then there’s Maddison. The 29-year-old has made a difference to Tottenham’s play after coming off the bench in each of the last two games. With the player still lacking physical fitness after recently recovering from an ACL injury, De Zerbi is once again expected to use Maddison as a second-half weapon when required.
