Manchester City-bound Enzo Maresca wants Chelsea star to join him at the PL club: Reports

Enzo Maresca, who is linked with a summer switch to Manchester City after Pep Guardiola announced his exit, wants a Chelsea star who played under him to join him at the Etihad Stadium this summer.

After Guardiola announced his decision to step down from the Manchester City helm, ex-Blues boss Enzo Maresca has reportedly agreed to join them in the summer. The Italian manager is expected to sign a three-year deal with the club.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Maresca wants to reunite with Chelsea star Enzo Fernández. The Argentine midfielder has been identified by the Cityzens as one of their desired targets for the summer transfer window.

Initial talks have reportedly already begun between the 2 entities over a possible summer transfer. Plettenberg also claims that Maresca and Fernandez have a good relationship after spending 18 months together at Chelsea.

After the Blues sacked Maresca, Fernandez recently publicly admitted that Chelsea were wrong to sack Maresca. He said(via GOAL):

"I don't understand it," Fernandez admitted. "Sometimes as a player, there's things we don't understand and the way they try to manage things. I don't have an answer for you because I don't know."

"Obviously, it was a departure that hurt a lot because we had a lot of identity, he gave us order but it's the way that football is, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad," the World Cup winner explained. "But we always had a clear identity when it came to training, playing and obviously his departure hurt us especially in the middle of the season - it cuts everything short."

Fernandez has also been linked with a summer move to Real Madrid. If Manchester City were to sign Fernandez, they'd be getting their hands on a Premier League-proven player who has prior experience working with reported incoming manager Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea want English midfielder to replace exit-linked Enzo Fernandez: Reports

Incoming manager Xabi Alonso has identified Enzo Fernandez as one of his key players at Chelsea. He wants the Argentine midfielder to stay at the club. Despite this, rumors regarding Fernandez's exit from the club keep cropping up.

The Blues are reportedly keen on a deal for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandez. The 22-year-old Englishman, who has been included in the Three Lions camp for friendlies before the World Cup despite not getting picked in the 26-man squad, is of interest to the Blues.

The Blues are not the only club interested in Scott, as they'll face competition from Liverpool, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Arsenal for the Cherries midfielder.
