A decisive meeting has been scheduled between Marc Casadó’s representatives and FC Barcelona, right after the final match of La Liga this season against Valencia at Mestalla.
Staying at the Camp Nou reportedly remains the priority for the 22-year-old academy graduate, but he is now reportedly seriously considering a departure to secure consistent playing time.
Casadó has fallen behind Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, and Marc Bernal in the pecking order, and he may be reluctant to accept another year as a fringe player. Despite this, the midfielder has stated multiple times over the season that he wishes to stay.
“Whenever there is a possibility to wear this shirt and this badge, it will be my priority,” Casadó told Esport3 in January. And speaking to La Vanguardia, he echoed that sentiment: “my dream has always been to play for Barça and I have achieved it. Now I want it to continue to be this way. I will leave my life in every training session, in every match, and in every situation to continue as a blaugrana.”
His public stance is clear, but the rumors persist. Casadó is under contract until 2028, meaning there is no immediate pressure from his side to rush into a decision. But offers from prominent European clubs have started to arrive. There have also been rumors of interest from Saudi Arabia.
Barcelona reportedly are willing to sell if the midfielder forces a move, but they are not necessarily rushing to let him go, either. Unlike previous summers where financial troubles dictated sales, the Catalans are not under immediate pressure to unload his contract, which is relatively low.
Estimates place Casadó’s market value between 20 and 30 million euros. His sale would represent “pure profit” as he was not bought with a transfer fee, being an academy product.
Even though Barcelona may not be in a mad rush to sell players, they still need to generate revenue to fund Hansi Flick’s desired reinforcements - a striker, a full-back, and a central defender.
Thus, Casadó‘s performances this season compared to his breakout campaign may make him a prime candidate for a transfer. With Gavi fully recovered and Bernal seeing increased minutes under Flick, there may be few opportunities for Casadó if he stays.
